Women In The Wind

Women in the Wind Tulsa Oklahoma ChapterThe Women in the Wind organization started in 1979 in Toledo, Ohio, when founder Becky Brown placed an ad in her local newspaper looking for female riders who wanted to form a club and ride. Eleven women responded to the ad and they took their first club ride through the scenic byways of the Maumee River. Today, there are over 1,000 members in 60 chapters in the U.S., Great Britain, Canada and Australia.

Women in the Wind’s purpose is: To educate women on motorcycle safety and maintenance. To unite women motorcyclists and to promote a positive image to the public of women on motorcycles.

Oklahoma Women Motorcycle Club WITW OklahomaThe first Oklahoma chapter of Women in the Wind was the Leather Angles. Two members of the Leather Angels, Donna Jackson and Tammy Endicott decided to start a chapter closer to the Tulsa metropolitan area. The Twisted Sisters Chapter began to take shape in July 2006, when Donna & Tammy met with a bunch of ladies who had been riding as an independent group. Donna & Tammy pitched their ideas for the Twisted Sisters and found themselves with 13 new members. Since then, the Twisted Sisters Chapter has continued to add new members and has grown to 28 members.

The Twisted Sisters pride themselves on being active riders and schedule several events per month, even during the winter. The Chapter meets the 2nd Sunday of every month, schedules a “Ladies Bike Night” at a different restaurant or pub each Wednesday of the riding season, and participates in a wide variety of rides, rallies, and charitable events throughout the year.

Group Motorcycle Rally Ride Women in The WindThe Twisted Sisters welcome women riders on all makes and models of motorcycles and with any range of motorcycling experience. We advocate safe riding practices and encourage members to ride within their own level of comfort. We will assist newly-riding members in learning to ride within a group while providing opportunities for experienced riders to rack up the miles on challenging group rides. In addition to our own chapter bylaws, we operate under the National guidelines of the Women in the Wind.
